After the end of 105-odd days, Muthukumaran trumped over Soundariya, VJ Vishal, Pavithra Lakshmi and Rayan to emerge as the winner of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8, hosted by Vijay Sethupathi.

After 15 weeks of intense competition, it finally came down to five contestants in the grand finale, and it was Muthukumaran who emerged the winner. The finalists were Muthukumaran, Soundariya, VJ Vishal, Pavithra Lakshmi, and Rayan. The 105-day show finally came to a close and the entire contingent of Bigg Boss Season 8 were present at the grand finale to celebrate their fellow housemates who stayed long enough in the house to be competent finalists.

Muthukumaran, a YouTuber, an excellent orator, and an aspiring actor, was the crowd favourite right from Day 1 as he gradually earned a lot of support from the people watching the show. They loved his oratorical skills as much as his gameplay, which involved clear-cut strategies, and a deep understanding of the game. In fact, such was the success of his gameplay that even his fellow housemates were quite in awe of his strengths. The evicted contestants, who returned for an extended stay inside the Bigg Boss house, had lovely things to say about him, and in every post-eviction interview of the contestants, they mentioned Muthukumaran as the favourite to win the top prize. Well, they were right, and Muthukumaran emerged as the clear winner of the show.

The runner-up was another crowd favourite whose mere mention in the weekend episodes lead to the audience going up in raptures. Soundariya was quite an electric presence inside the Bigg Boss house, and managed to always come up unscathed every time she was up for elimination. She even won hearts for her gesture of proposing to her boyfriend and ex-Bigg Boss contestant Vishnu Vijay. Known for her chirpy attitude, Soundariya was as famous for her fun presence and ‘attitude,’ and even managed to popularise her father’s bakery.

The finale started with Vijay Sethupathi taking centerstage, and talking about the path taken by each of the contestants, and his own learnings from being a first-time host of this popular show. The finale, which had dance performances from the likes of contestants Anshida, Tharshika and Sunita, was all about the five finalists, and we saw a lot of interactive events in the show. It was interesting to see how the five contestants were whittled down to the final two, with each eviction offering something interesting. The first one to be evicted was Rayan. He was followed by Pavithra Lakshmi, and then interestingly, all three were asked to exit the house, and walk on to the grand stage. Then, it was an interesting session of banters between the contestants, and their families, and then it was announced that Vishal was the next person to be evicted.

Finally, it was just Soundarya and Muthukumaran, two of the strongest contestants, standing on either side of Vijay Sethupathi, and the deafening applause and cheers from the audience, and the pouring in of love from netizens marked the moment when the host raised the hand of Muthukumaran, and announced him as the winner of the Bigg Boss Season 8 Tamil.

It was a poignant moment that was made even more special by witnessing the camaraderie between each of the contestants, and Muthukumaran’s choice of words after winning the top prize, and proving that the trophy went to the most deserving candidate of the season.
